Boiling

I made a hot water bottle cozy for my Grandma this morning/last night. I love how it turned out!

I couldn't find a pattern I liked, so I made up my own. The first time, it was too big, the second time, I decreased weirdly, and the third time turned out perfect. :)

I was planning on writing the pattern up, but I really need to make another cozy to be able to. But I'm not sure when that will be...

The Blog Post of Randomness

Well, the title says it all.

Here's a picture of one of the tunisian dishcloths. It was going to be the background for my blog, but "the file was too big." Ack!

I cleaned out part of my yarn section of my bookshelf today. Ahhh, cleanness.

And I finished a crazy color-by-number the other day. It's no ordinary kindergarden color-by-number.

That took awhile!

And, the last random subject of this post: Has anyone seen the new Muppet movie yet?

OH, I just finished crocheting Buddy the Elf from the movie, Elf.

(Sorry the picture is sideways)

Personally, I think he looks like he wants to hurt me.

More pictures here. :)

Christmas Yarn!

Hope everyone had a great Christmas!

I got some yarn today with my LYS gift card I got yesterday (I know, I know, I spent it all the day after I got it) to make a sweater called Birthday Sweater. I can't wait to get started on it!

The yarn is Berroco Vintage Chunky in white. It's really soft, and I'd rather squish it right now than knit with it. :) I got four skeins, but I think I'll need one or two more.

I think I'll start the sweater in a few days, after I finish another project that needs to get done.

Yesterday, I  got a skein of Plymouth Yarn Happy Feet. I love the color combination! It's so Fall-like. :)

I also got a skein of Sugar 'n Cream in my stocking. I'm not sure what to make with it yet.

And last, I got the amigurumi knitting book, Knitted Toy Tales. There's some adorable things in it. :) I frogged
Eddie the friendly elephant ages ago, by the way.

Happy New Year everyone!

French Press

I finished my iPod cozy!

The pattern was for a mug cozy, but instead I knit two sides using the stitch pattern and turned it into an iPod cozy. It was so much fun! I'm sure I'll be using the pattern for many more projects.

It's Me

It's still the same blog. :P I just screwed up the template for it, and then I couldn't get it back. I think I like it the way it is now though. :)

Oh, I'm knitting an iPod cozy using the stitch pattern from this mug cozy pattern. It's turning out really cool! Right now it's blocking on some foam.

Sorry about the pictures. Once I'm finished with it, I'll post better ones.

Merry Christmas (four more days!)!

This Little Bunny

I made a bunny for my sister as a last minute Christmas gift. I'm sure there are still other knitters who are rapidly trying to finish gift though, so this isn't really that last minute. The yarn was really annoying to work with, but it was perfect for this project.

Oops, forgot to make the pompom tail!

The ears aren't exactly perfect, but they turned out okay.

Merry Christmas!

Soapy

Yesterday afternoon, I washed my handspun. :) I don't think I'll ply any of the handspun because it's so thick.

Anyway, here's what it looked like.

I felt so bad putting my precious handspun in a pan of soapy water.

It got soapy.

Very soapy!

After it was done in the pan, I hung it outside on a piece of wood to dry. I took it in once it got later, because I didn't want my yarn to freeze. :) It turned out good in the end! Washing it really made it softer.

All in all, I love how this half of my roving turned out. :) It's a little uneven, so I'm not sure what to make with it. Any ideas?

The giveaway ends in four days!

Giveaway!

Yay, a giveaway!

All you have to do to enter is comment below and say what special holiday traditions your family has. For example, "Every year we make candy for our friends, and Christmas day." I'll randomly select a winner December 16.

I'll be giving away...

58 yards of wool, hand dyed yarn. It's minty green, dyed with Kool Aid of some sort. I don't like how the color ended up, but I'm sure others will. :)

To go with the yarn, I'll be giving away a magazine that we have two of. It's Knit Simple, Holiday 2011. There's some cute patterns in there! Like, Mitten Ornaments and Dreidels. :)

Comment away!

How to Single Crochet

I've made up a few tutorials, and this is one of them. :) I really hope they're helpful, because I'm not sure if I explained it right..

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

First,

Stick your hook into the stitch (or chain).

Turn your hook around and grab the yarn (yarn over made)

Pull your hook back into the stitch. You should have two loops on your hook instead of the starting one.

Yarn over again.

And pull the yarn through both of the loops on your hook.

The example shown is multiple rows on single crocheting.

Once again, I hope this helps. It was my first tutorial. :)

Kitty Pics

I thought I would share some pictures of two of our cats, Barney and Little Miss.

Little Miss likes to sit in the office chair, and Barney will come up and lick her face, paws, or tummy. Sometimes they fight...

But in the end, it's all good!

They're probably in that chair right now...

December 7, 2011

I borrowed the book, Knitted Toy Tales from the library and I think it'll be on my Christmas list this year. :) There's so many adorable things in it! I'm knitting a Eddie the Friendly Elephant as one of my gifts this year. Surprisingly, most of the amigurumis in the book are knitted flat! I hate seeing a great pattern, but you can't do one of the techniques. I'm sure knitters just learning would love the book. :)

Here's my progress on it.

I'm almost done with its head!
